Coltrane 100 at St. John’s Episcopal Church

On Sunday October 4th, 2026, the St. John’s Episcopal Church welcomed the Sam Dillon Quartet. St John’s Church, located in Huntington, New York, is just a few miles from the Dix Hills Coltrane Home. The quartet performed at the church as a part of the Coltrane Legacy Series, which was held in celebration of the John Coltrane Centennial. The band included iconic saxophonist Sam Dillon, Jeb Patton on piano, Alexander Claffy on bass, and Charles Goold on drums. The concert drew nearly 300 guests, pushing to venue of the church near its capacity. Dillon and his band played for a consecutive 90 minutes and received a standing ovation at the conclusion of the performance. Dillon expressed that “there was truly something special in the air” as jazz fans gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of John Coltrane.
