On January 16th 2026 at the New Marigny Theatre in New Orleans, LA, Sita Michelle Coltrane and The Devotional Ensemble as well as the Brandee Younger Trio, performed an evening of music by Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda, spanning her original ashram tapes to her releases on Impulse! Records. The Devotional Ensemble included Lisa Harris, Arianna Gouveia, and the Xavier University Opera Workshop, led by Dr. Sakinah Davis. The Brandee Younger Trio included Rashaan Carter and Allan Mednard, plus special guests. This performance was presented by Bamboula Jazz Studies in Motion and was the culminating event for The Life, Music, and Legacy of Alice Coltrane, a week-long program in New Orleans sponsored by the Jazz Generations Initiative, funded by the Mellon Foundation and sponsored by the Jazz Foundation of America, with generous support from the Newcomb Institute, and the Newcomb Department of Music.
