2026: The John Coltrane Centennial
In 2026, the world will celebrate the 100th birthday of John Coltrane, an artist who reshaped the landscape of music, and whose vision continues to inspire seekers of truth, beauty, and freedom across the globe.
This milestone year will be honored at the landmarked Dix Hills Home. After a lengthy and ongoing renovation, made possible by The National Trust For Historic Preservation, Suffolk County, the Town of Huntington and generous donors from around the world, the public will be able to visit areas of the Home for the very first time.
It was here that John lived with his wife Alice and their young family from 1964-1967, where he composed the iconic work A Love Supreme, and where John and Alice, collectively and individually, cemented their paths as musicians and spiritual leaders.
1964-1967: Coltrane at Home
These years at the Home in Dix Hills marked one of the most fertile and transcendent chapters in John Coltrane’s life, grounding his artistry and vision in his daily family life as husband, father, and neighbor. In addition to A Love Supreme, Coltrane created enduring works such as Crescent, Transition, and Meditations, each expanding the language of music.

This period included landmark moments in his spiritual evolution, including his celebrated 1966 tour of Japan where he performed to adoring audiences and composed Peace on Earth. Coltrane traveled to both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, paying tribute at the memorial sites of the atomic bombings, experiences that profoundly deepened his spiritual and humanitarian vision.
2006 –
