In August of 2025, The Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles celebrated Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda’s 88th birthday with an Oral History program, screenings of both Eternity’s Pillar and The Black Journal, as well as a concert event. The oral history was presented by Sita Michelle Coltrane and Ross Chait in the society’s library. The following Saturday August 23rd, the space illuminated for a daylong program, which featured an immersive Ashram installation with screenings of Eternity’s Pillar (Alice Coltrane Swamini Turiyasangitananda’s television program) throughout the afternoon, and an evening presentation of music and dance from the Sai Anantam Devotional Ensemble lead by Sita Michelle Coltrane. The evening culminated with a screening of the Black Journal’s documentary on Alice Coltrane from 1970. This program was presented by The Coltrane Home in partnership with Philosophical Research Society’s 7th House Screenings, KPFK, and dublab to to honor this expansive legacy.
