In a combined recognition of both National Jazz Appreciation Month and the Year of Alice, The John and Alice Coltrane Home hosted a special morning for toddlers at the Half Hollow Hills Library on April 5, 2025. The program, titled “Jazzy Tots,” invited children ages 2 to 5 to engage in musical storytelling and gain an early exposure to the sounds of jazz. Children and their families played along to jazz music using shakers and drums, which encouraged self-expression. After the interactive play session, children listened to stories inspired by jazz musicians and learned about the Coltrane family. Each child received a free book to take home at the end of the program, which parents could use to further explore the creative power of jazz music with their child. The “Jazzy Tots” program was impactful to its community because it raised awareness for The Coltrane Home, introducing both parents and their children to a historic landmark in their own neighborhood tha
