AAlice Coltrane’s harp is entwined with a story of love and success, making it a symbolic piece of the Coltrane legacy. John Coltrane had gifted Alice the harp, which arrived at the Coltrane Dix Hills home shortly after his passing. Having never played the instrument before owning this gift, Alice quickly learned harp and included it in some of her most renown albums.

The original instrument’s manufacturer Lyon & Healy restored Alice’s harp at their Chicago facility where it was originally built, allowing it to be enjoyed by the next generation of jazz musicians.

Alice Coltrane’s daughter, Michelle Coltrane, and Brandee Younger were able to visit the Lyon & Healy studio and learn about the restoration process for such the instrument.
