We are now in the process of restoring the Coltrane home to the condition that it was in while John, Alice and the children lived there.
From an initial donation, provided by Alice Coltrane and her family, we have made significant progress so far. We have restored electricity and water to the home and greatly improved the condition of the interior of the home.
We have a great amount of work to do. The home has been vacant for more than four years and nature’s elements have taken its toll.
We are in need of a new roof, heating system and many other repairs.
We need your help !!
Since this situation began, so many of you have asked how you can help in the fundraising campaign. Our position has always been that we would not seek donations until we could properly establish a non-profit organization.
In 2005, we formed The Friends of the Coltrane Home in Dix Hills, LLC, a NY State non-profit organization. In 2006, we received our IRS 501(c)(3) designation so all donations are fully tax deductible. The organization is led by a Board of Directors, Ravi Coltrane, his wife Kathleen Hennessy and Steve Fulgoni.
We also have a working committee of eight individuals with extensive expertise and knowledge in the field of non-profit organization, historical restoration and music. The Board of Directors and committee members are all volunteers and 100% of your contirbutions will go to restore the home and ultimately open it to the public.
Donations should be made payable to Friends of the Coltrane Home and can be sent to:

Hi,
I would very much like to visit the John Coltrane House as I greatly respect his musicianship, but I can find no visiting hours on the website. I will be on Long Island Dec. 24th – 27th. Would you please tell me what visiting hours are available on these days. Thank you very much.
Mike Marcinowski
Hi Mike,
Sorry for the late reply. The house is not open to the public just yet. Keep watching this website for news about that.
I just sent you an email before I saw this. Does the Friends group meet regularly? Are there any upcoming activities associated with the house? I would like to plan some community education projects.
